Anyone interested in running for office in the Aug. 25 election may file papers for candidacy until 5 p.m. on Friday (May 29). If an incumbent fails to file, the filing deadline is extended for that office, for non-incumbents only, to 5 p.m. Wednesday (June 3). The elections involve the Fern Valley Water District, the High Valleys Water District, Lee Lake Water District, Rancho California Water District, Idyllwild Water District, Pine Cove Water District and Idyllwild Fire Protection District.
The Registrar of Voters staff is available to help prospective candidates complete the necessary paperwork and answer questions. Anyone unsure about their eligibility to seek local office, based on residency, should contact the Registrar of Voters office for help.
