As part of the effort to spread a message of good health through healthy eating, the County of Riverside will host its inaugural farmers market in historic downtown Riverside.
The grand opening is planned from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday (March 16) at the County Administrative Center, 4080 Lemon St. in Riverside.
“Eating fruits and vegetables daily is essential to good health. And because access to fresh fruits and vegetables can be an issue in some communities, this market offers residents and visitors access to some of the finest locally grown produce the region while building health into their everyday lives,” said Sarah Mack, interim director of Riverside University Health System – Public Health.
The market will feature local and Southern California growers and healthy foods such as hummus, baked goods, balsamic vinegar and honey. Best of all, residents will enjoy regular access to the farmers market, which will be held weekly.
The farmers market is made possible in conjunction with the Riverside County Economic Development Agency, Riverside University Health System – Public Health, Agricultural Commissioner, Riverside County Department of Environmental Health, County of Riverside Culture of Health and the Healthy Riverside County Initiative.
