Tuberculosis testing urged after mother of preschooler tests positive for illness

The parent of a preschool student in the Desert Sands Unified School District has been diagnosed with active tuberculosis (TB). The Riverside County Department of Public Health is working with district officials to identify others who might have been exposed to the illness.

One of the best-known rating companies has upgraded Riverside County’s outlook to stable, a change that will save $2 million to $3 million on a $325 million bond issuance for a new jail in Indio and other smaller capital projects. The county’s outlook previously was set as “negative.”
