RIVERSIDE – With storm systems expected to soak the area through early Tuesday, residents and businesses in flood-prone areas are urged to prepare for possible flooding and to drive with caution on wet, slick roads. The heaviest rain, with snow in some areas, is predicted today (1/19), tomorrow afternoon (1/20), and Sunday night into Monday, with chances for thunderstorms throughout.

A funeral Mass for Supervisor John J. Benoit will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in La Quinta. A reception at St. Francis will immediately follow the funeral.
John J. Benoit, Riverside County Fourth District supervisor, passed away peacefully this evening at his home in Bermuda Dunes. He was 64.
Who knew your holiday trees could make life a little better for fish? The Riverside County Department of Waste Resources is working closely with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to collect Christmas trees at county landfills and provide them for fish habitat. The county landfill department is always looking for innovative ways to divert waste and preserve valuable landfill space.

The Riverside County Registrar of Voters office certified the results of the Nov. 8 consolidated general election on Tuesday (12/6) and forwarded the certified results to the Board of Supervisors.
Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser has determined that tuberculosis test results at Indio High School from about 100 students were within the normal levels health that officials expect to find in the general public. At this time, testing will not be expanded to other students or staff.
