County Counsel Profiles

Jason Seward

Deputy County Counsel

Jason Seward joined the Office of County Counsel in 2008. Jason has represented several county agencies including the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the Riverside County Registrar of Voters, the Department of Public Social Services, and has provided legal counsel to several county departments regarding the California Public Records Act. Within the first two weeks of representing the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Jason successfully prepared a Writ of Mandate which required the Superior Court to reverse an order to provide county jail inmates with elective, non-emergency, medical procedures. This reversal stopped a precedent which would have cost the county thousands of dollars in un-necessary medical costs.

Jason’s primary assignment has been to provide legal counsel to the Department of Public Social Services. Jason has dedicated his legal career to protecting the rights and interests of abused and neglected children. In addition to appearing in court on a daily basis, Jason has provided training to social workers and supervisors throughout Riverside County.

Prior to beginning his career with the Office of County Counsel, Jason was an attorney for the Juvenile Defense Panel in the southwest region of Riverside County.

Jason earned his B.S. in Biology from the University of the South. Jason earned his J.D. from the University of La Verne.
