Tanya Joyce
Deputy County Counsel
Tanya Joyce joined the Office of the County Counsel in 1994. She obtained her law degree from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles, California. Ms. Joyce has dedicated her entire career to children’s rights since graduating with a Bachelor’s degree from UCLA, first working as a Deputy Probation Officer in the juvenile delinquency unit in Los Angeles County while attending law school at night, and then as a Riverside County Deputy Public Defender representing children in both dependency and delinquency courts.
Since joining the office, Ms. Joyce has represented the Department of Public Social Services Child Protective Services Division in Juvenile Dependency cases in all three juvenile courts including Riverside, Indio, and currently, the Southwest Justice Center. She continues her work with children outside the office as head of outreach at her church, where she leads programs to help homeless and low-income children as well as global hunger projects through Episcopal Relief and Development.
