Carole Nunes Fong
Deputy County Counsel IV-S
Ms. Nunes Fong joined the office in 1989 and currently supervises 10 attorneys. For nearly 22 years she has represented various county departments in “quasi-criminal,” criminal, civil, and administrative proceedings. Ms. Nunes Fong has represented the County as both plaintiff and defendant in legal actions. The clients Ms. Nunes Fong has worked with over the years include the Board of Supervisors, Code Enforcement, the Department of Public Social Services (DPSS), the Department of Environmental Health, the Planning Department, Animal Control, the Agricultural Commissioner, Flood Control, the Assessor, the Treasurer/Tax Collector, the Auditor/Controller, the Clerk of the Board, the Sheriff’s Department, and the Probation Department.
Ms. Nunes Fong’s primary assignments during her legal career with the Office of County Counsel have been the Assessor, Code Enforcement, and DPSS.
Ms. Nunes Fong currently supervises the Riverside office of the juvenile dependency trial attorneys and the juvenile dependency appellate attorneys, advises DPSS in the area of juvenile dependency law, and represents DPSS in juvenile dependency appeals.
Before joining the office, Ms. Nunes Fong volunteered at the Legal Aid Society of Orange County and was an intern at a private law firm. Ms. Nunes Fong also previously worked at the Orange County Public Defender’s Office in association with her undergraduate degree.
Ms. Nunes Fong received her J.D. with honors from Simon Greenleaf School of Law which is now known as Trinity Law School. Ms. Nunes Fong subsequently obtained her license to practice law after her first sitting for the California Bar Exam. She received a B.A. in Social Ecology with an emphasis in criminology and planning from the University of California at Irvine and attended the University of Lund, Sweden as part of her undergraduate degree.
Ms. Nunes Fong is admitted to practice in all state courts and the United States District Court for the Southern District of California.
