Candidate filing deadline approaching for Nov. 5 general election

Anyone interested in running for office in the Nov. 5 general election may file papers for candidacy until 5 p.m. Friday (Aug. 9).  If an incumbent fails to file, the deadline is extended for that office, for non-incumbents only, to 5 p.m. Aug. 14. 

The following special districts and school districts have open seats:

Edgemont Community Services District
Southern Coachella Valley Community Services District
Tenaja Community Services District
Beaumont Library District
Palo Verde Valley Library District
Desert Recreation District – Divisions 1 & 4
Home Gardens Sanitary District
Valley Sanitary District
Desert Water Agency
Cabazon Water District
Chiriaco Summit Water District
Home Gardens County Water District
Mission Springs Water District
Pinyon Pines County Water District

School Districts
Banning Unified School District
Menifee Union School District – Trustee Areas  1, 3, 4 & 5

The Registrar of Voters staff is available to help prospective candidates complete the necessary paperwork and answer questions. Anyone who is unsure about their eligibility for local office, based on residency, should contact the Registrar of Voters office for help. Candidates receive informational handbooks when they obtain their papers.
