As the June 7 primary election nears, California’s rules covering primary elections have created some confusion for vote-by-mail voters, especially among voters who might receive two ballots if they changed their political party preference or registered as “No Party Preference.”
The Registrar of Voters has recovered a large group of sample ballot books from a long-time vendor that was replaced a week ago after missing a contractual deadline to mail sample ballots for the June 7 election. The vendor had not informed the Registrar of Voters that 75,000 sample ballot books were not included among the 300,000 sample ballots seized when the vendor was replaced last week.
Monday (May 23) is the deadline for voters to register and be eligible to cast a ballot in the June 7 election.

The funding, which the Riverside County Board of Supervisors recently accepted, will pay the cost of “self-rescue” courses for as many as 50 infants up to 18 months old. The grant is from First 5 Riverside, the Riverside County Children & Family Commission.
